Day 1:

A Full Day of Chicago Sports Fun

  • Family posing for a photo outside of a stadium

Want to take in the history of all Chicago’s great teams? Begin your fan journey with the Chicago Sports Museum featuring iconic memorabilia and the opportunity to test your own skills in “hi-tech simulated experiences.” Just around the corner, you’ll find a Cubs themed meal, Harry Caray’s 7th Inning Stretch at Water Tower Place (and has other locations, like Navy Pier.)

Chicago offers plenty of outdoor fun and ways to keep moving, from getting a few swings in at Harborside International Golf Center Harborside International Golf Center to kayaking on the Chicago River or taking advantage of all the activities along Chicago’s breathtaking lakefront.

Now it’s time to take in some games and, whether afternoon or evening, you have plenty of options. Chicago is famous for its two baseball teams and their historic venues. Catch a Cubs game at Wrigley Field or see the White Sox Play at Rate Field.

You can also head west to the United Center, a multi-purpose stadium that hosts championship hockey and basketball teams, the Chicago Blackhawks and Bulls. Before or after a game, you can take a pic with statues of legends like Michael Jordan, Stan Mikita and Bobby Hull.

If you get your kicks watching some soccer, a Chicago Fire game at Soldier Field may be just what you’re looking for. Want to emulate your favorite Chicago Fire player? Test your own soccer skills at the Endeavor Health Fire Pitch.

pizza

When you’ve worked up an appetite, make sure to indulge in the Windy City’s own sport – diving into a deep-dish Chicago-style pizza at Lou Malnati’s, Giordano’s or Gino’s East. You can also eat like a champion at Michael Jordan’s Steak House nestled along the Magnificent Mile.

Green Lion

To unwind after such a productive day, Chicago has some of the nicest hotel accommodates for all travelers. The Chicago Athletic Association is a MICHELIN Key hotel in the heart of downtown where you’ll be just steps away from “The Bean” at Millennium Park and Chicago’s own Art Institute Museum. If your focus is the Cubs, Hotel Zachary at Gallagher Way provides fine accommodations in the heart of Wrigleyville, with easy access to the Wrigley Field and the great restaurants and nightlife the area is known for.

DAY TO PLAY (Chicagoland)

Sporting adventures do not end at the city limits. You can follow up your day in Chicago by taking in sports excitement outside the city limits! >

Soccer fans will want to head southwest to Bridgeview’s SeatGeek Stadium. There, you’ll catch action from the Chicago Stars FC of the National Women's Soccer League and Chicago Fire FC II of MLS Next Pro League.

Or check out the northern suburb of Rosemont, its own hub for teams and activities. Though their name might indicate otherwise, the Chicago Dogs’ (members of the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball) games can be caught at Rosemont’s Impact Field. For those who love adrenaline, how about some indoor skydiving? Take flight at iFLY Chicago (also in Rosemont!)
