Join the Old State Capitol for Black History Nights on February 7th, 21st, & 28th.
In celebration of Black History Month, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources is hosting Black History Nights at the Old State Capitol. The program is free and open to the public. Presentations will be at 5:00pm, 5:45pm, & 6:30pm. Each week will have a different topic.
- February 7th - Illinois’ Black Soldiers
- February 21st - Dave Joens discussing his book From Slave to State Legislator: John W. E. Thomas, Illinois' First African American Lawmaker
- February 28th - Black History Month Highlight - Capitol Insider William Butler
